Jaz Grant, Principal
Mr. Grant was born and raised in Pittsburg, Texas. He holds his Bachelor's Degree in English from Morehouse College in Atlanta, and went on to earn his Masters Degree in Teaching from the Relay Graduate School of Education. After graduating, Mr. Grant began his teaching career with Uncommon Schools as a Teach For America Corp Member at Excellence Boys Charter School in Brooklyn. During his tenure at Excellence Boys, he served as a 2nd and 3rd Grade Teacher, Grade Team Leader, and Instructional Leader, as well as completing Uncommon Schools’ Instructional Fellowship.
Lauren Silver, Director of Operations
Ms. Silver was born and raised in Philadelphia. She attended Goucher College in Baltimore where she studied Women’s Studies and Latin American Studies. After graduation, Ms. Silver attended The New School in New York City, where she earned her Masters Degree in Nonprofit Management. During this time she interned at Progressive Pupil, an organization that promotes learning experiences about the history and culture of the African Diaspora. Ms. Silver joined Uncommon Schools in 2014 as Office Manager at Excellence Girls Elementary Academy, and went on to hold all of the roles on the operations team, including Summer Academy Director of Operations and Operations Fellow.
